Cabbage Leaf Dolmas
What You Need:
  • 1 pound minced lamb or beef (from fatty part of meat)
  • 1 chopped onion
  • ¼ cup uncooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon chopped mint
  • 1 teaspoon chopped dill
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce (optional)
  • Cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups water

  • How To Cook:
    1. Place meat in bowl and add onion, rice, mint, dill, salt and pepper, and tomato sauce if desired. Knead well.

    2. Take outer leaves of a large head of cabbage and parboil for 5 minutes, then drain.

    3. Put spoonful of stuffing on each leaf and roll up.

    4. Place cabbage leaf dolmas in saucepan in rows and add butter and water.

    5. Put a plate on top of dolmas to keep them in place, and cover the saucepan.

    6. Cook over medium heat for 35-40 minutes.
