National Stew Of Argentine
(Puchero)
What You Need:
  • 2 pound beef cut in pieces 2 inches by 3 inches
  • 4 cobs of sweet corn
  • 4 potatoes
  • 1 boiling fowl, jointed
  • 2 onions
  • 1 calf's foot, split in 4
  • 4 pieces of pumpkin each cut 3 inches square
  • Boiling water
  • teaspoons salt
  • 4 carrots
  • 4 oz bacon cut in 1-inch squares
  • 4 sweet potatoes
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 8 slices liver sausage

  • How To Cook:
    1. Take a large pot and half-fill it with boiling salted water.

    2. Put in the beef, fowl and calf's foot, bring to the boil and skim.

    3. Simmer for 1˝ hours.

    4. Now add everything else, add more water if necessary and simmer till the vegetables are tender.

    5. Serve in 3 dishes - one for the meat, one for the vegetables and one for the soup.

    To Serve: 6 - 8
