Tipperary Pie
What You Need:
  • ½ pound lean shin of beef
  • 1 onion
  • 3 carrots
  • 3 turnips
  • A few sticks of celery
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning
  • 1 pint water
  • 6 large potatoes
  • Gravy browning

    FOR THE PASTRY
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 pint water
  • 4 oz flour
  • 2 oz suet
  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • How To Cook:
    1. Cut up the meat into pieces 1 inch square.

    2. Put it into a casserole and add the sliced onion, carrots, turnips and celery and the seasoning.

    3. Add the water and gravy browning; simmer for 1 hour.

    4. Add the sliced potatoes and boil a further ¼ hour.

    5. Make the pastry and roll it out to fit the casserole; cover the top of the stew, put the casserole lid on and simmer for ½ hour.

    To Make: 1 pie
