Quick Apple Flan
What You Need:
  • 2 oz butter
  • 2 oz plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 1 cooking apple
  • 1 oz sugar
  • A few almonds
  • A little milk

  • How To Cook:
    1. Rub the butter into the flour, add the cold water and mix to dough; roll out on a lightly floured board into an oblong about 5 by 9 inches.

    2. Peel the apple, cut into thin slices and arrange the pieces neatly along the center of the dough, leaving 1 inch clear all round.

    3. Sprinkle the apple with half the sugar.

    4. Fold the sides of the pastry up over the apples to form a border, but do not entirely cover them.

    5. Brush the pastry edge with a little milk.

    6. Sprinkle on the remaining sugar and the chopped almonds, pressing them slightly into the dough.

    7. Place on a baking sheet and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for about ˝ hour.

    To Make: 1 flan
