Chocolate Fried Bread
(Torrijas)
What You Need:
  • Slices of stale bread cut ˝ inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon sherry
  • Olive oil for frying
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Caster sugar
  • ˝ pint milk
  • Grated chocolate

  • How To Cook:
    1. Cut the bread into fingers about 1 inch wide.

    2. Beat the egg yolk with a fork and add the milk and sherry.

    3. Dip the fingers of bread into this mixture, drain them and fry them in olive oil until they are golden-brown.

    4. Drain, sprinkle with caster sugar and then cover with grated chocolate, pile them up in a dish and sprinkle again with grated chocolate.

    5. Serve very hot.
