What You Need:            (To Make: 1 cake)

  • 10 oz flour
  • 1 oz caraway seeds
  • A pinch of salt
  • 6 oz sugar
  • ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 - 2 eggs
  • 4 oz margarine or butter
  • 4 teaspoons water (approx.)

  • How To Cook:
    1. Thoroughly grease a 6-inch cake tin.

    2. Sieve together the flour, salt and baking powder and rub in the fat thoroughly.

    3. Add the caraway seeds and the sugar and then the beaten egg.

    4. Mix with sufficient water to give a soft dropping consistency and bake in a moderately hot oven (400°F) reducing after the first hour to 375°F for 1½ hours, until golden brown.
