	1. Mix the cornstarch and water in a small saucepan and stir until the cornstarch dissolves completely.

	2. Add the salt and 2 tablespoons of the sugar and, stirring constantly, cook over moderate heat until the sauce thickens enough to coat the spoon lightly.

	3. Taste, and add up to 2 more tablespoons brown sugar if desired. (Filipinos like the sauce very sweet.)

	4. Pour the hot sauce into a small bowl or sauceboat and serve at once. Sweet sauce traditionally accompanies fresh lumpia.
