Poppy-Seed Dressing
What You Need:
  • 2/3 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons finely grated onion
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • How To Cook:
    1. Combine the vinegar, onion, sugar, mustard and salt in a bowl and stir vigorously with a wire whisk until the sugar, mustard and salt dissolve.

    2. Whisking constantly, pour in the oil in a slow, thin stream and continue to beat until the dressing is smooth and thick. Stir in the poppy seeds and taste for seasoning.

    3. Serve the poppy-seed dressing at once with any fruit salad or cover tightly with plastic wrap and store in a cool place or the refrigerator until ready to serve.

    4. Tightly covered and refrigerated, the dressing can safely be kept for 6 to 30 days.

    To make about: 2˝ cups
