Sukiyaki
What You Need:
  • 1½ pounds cubed beef steaks
  • ¼ cup lard
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 10 to 12 green onions cut in 2-inch pieces
  • 1½ cups sliced celery
  • 1 can (8 ounces) bamboo shoots
  • 3 cups hot cooked rice

  • How To Cook:
    1. Pound steaks; cut into strips about 2 inches long and ½ inch wide. Brown meat in hot lard in frying pan.

    2. Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water. Combine bouillon, sugar and soy sauce; mix well.

    3. Pour mixture over meat; push meat to one side of frying pan.

    4. Add vegetables, keeping each separate; cover and cook slowly 15 minutes.

    5. Serve at once with rice accompaniment.

    To Serve: 4 to 6
