Cooked Beans
(Frijoles)
What You Need:
  • 1 pound pink beans or pinto beans
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons lard (or butter or margarine)
  • Water, as needed

    How To Cook:
    1. Put the first three ingredients in a covered 3-quart casserole and add enough water to more than cover.

    2. Cook 2 to 2˝ hours in the microwave oven until the desired degree of tenderness is reached.

    3. Every 15 minutes, stir, add more water, as needed, to keep the beans covered.

    To Serve: 6 to 8
