Baked White Bread Pudding
What You Need:
  • 6 slices white bread (or 7 white rolls)
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 ounce sliced, toasted almonds
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk

  • How To Cook:
    1. Butter the bread and break into large pieces. (If using the rolls, cut them in slices). Line the bottom of a covered casserole with a single layer of the bread.

    2. Sprinkle on 1/3 of the nuts and 1/3 of the raisins. Put in a second layer of the bread and again sprinkle on 1/3 each of the nuts and raisins. Put in the remaining bread and sprinkle with the remaining raisins and nuts.

    3. Beat the eggs, sugar and milk together very thoroughly. Pour over the bread. Let stand 1 hour.

    4. Bake, covered, and in the microwave oven for about 10 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. May be served hot or cold.

    NOTE:
For variation #1-substitute another not-too-moist fruit for the raisins and almonds. For variation #2-substitute grated chocolate and walnuts for the raisins and almonds. For variation #3-serve with a hot chocolate or a fruit sauce.
