Basic Bread Dough
What You Need:
  • cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • ˝ cup warm water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 5 tablespoons cold milk
  • 1 egg beaten into 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • How To Cook:
    1. Sift flour and salt. Dissolve yeast in a cup of warm water.

    2. Combine with butter and milk. Cover bowl and set aside to rise for 2 hours.

    3. Put 2 tablespoons flour on table and pat dough to ˝ inch thickness.

    4. Cut dough into 2 pieces and roll from corner to corner like a jelly roll.

    5. Brush with egg and milk and slash surface at intervals.

    6. Place in bread loaf pans and bake 15 minutes in a fast oven, and then lower to 350°F and bake 15 minutes more.
