What You Need:
  • ˝ pound pickled herring
  • ˝ pound pickled shad
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • A few pimento grains and a few drops of hot pepper sauce

  • How To Cook:
    1. Soak the fish for 3 hours in water to cover.

    2. Pour off the water and scald the fish with boiling water.

    3. Remove the skin, let cool, and shred flesh.

    4. Boil vinegar with onion and pimento grains. Add oil and pour over fish.

    5. Pack into jars, cover and keep in the refrigerator.
