| 1. Soak the herrings overnight in cold water.

| 2. Mix the remaining ingredients to make a marinade and leave to stand for a few hours.

| 3. The next day, clean and fillet the herrings, cut the fillets into ½ - inch slices and pour the marinade over them.

| 4. Leave until the next day and serve chilled.
