  • ½ cup Spiced Butter
  • ½ cup peeled and finely chopped yellow onions
  • 3 tablespoons cored, seeded, and finely chopped green bell peppers
  • ½ teaspoon peeled and finely chopped garlic
  • 2 tablespoons seeded and finely chopped fresh hot green jalapeno peppers
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground cardamom seeds
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 teaspoons Berbere Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 pounds lean beef sirloin, freshly ground very coarse in your meat grinder

  • How To Cook:
    1. Heat a 10-inch frying pan and add the butter.

    2. Saute the onions, green bell peppers, garlic, jalapenos, cayenne, ginger, and cardamom for about 2 minutes, and then remove the mixture to a bowl. Allow to cool a bit.

    3. Add the lemon juice, Berbere Sauce, and salt to the cooled vegetable mixture.

    4. Mix the ground meat and the spiced vegetable mixture. Mound on a platter or on Injera Bread and serve.
