What You Need:

  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 cups butter
  • Milk to mix
  • Blanched almonds
  • Sugar

    FOR THE ICING
  • 1 pound sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • ¼ pint water

  • How To Cook:
    1. Rub the flour and butter together until well mixed, and then knead to firm dough with a little milk.

    2. Form into small hollow cakes and stuff with a mixture of pounded nuts and sugar.

    3. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until slightly browned.

    TO MAKE THE ICING:
    1. Dissolve the sugar in the water and boil till it will spin a thread.

    2. Beat egg whites stiffly and pour the hot syrup over them, beating continuously.

    3. Cover the little cakes with this mixture.
