What You Need:            (To Serve: 4 - 6)

  • 1½ pound minced mutton, lamb or beef
  • 1 large onion (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
  • 2½ slices dry whole wheat bread (soaked in water and squeezed dry)
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 medium tomatoes (or ¼ cup tomato paste)

  • How To Cook:
    1. Combine meat, grated onion, parsley, bread, eggs, salt and pepper.

    2. Shape into balls the size of walnuts, and dust with flour.

    3. Brown in a frying pan in melted butter.

    4. Add tomatoes (or tomato paste and 1 cup of water).

    5. Cover and cook over medium flame for 25 minutes.

    6. Serve hot.
