	| 6 - 8 medium-sized cooking apples
		½ cup melted butter or margarine
		½ cup fine, dry breadcrumbs
		1/3 cup cherry brandy, rum, sauternes or orange juice
		¾ cup brown sugar
		1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon |  |

											| How To Cook: |

											|  |  | 1. Peel, core and slice the apples. 
 
 |  | 2. Mix the crumbs, sugar and cinnamon. 
 
 |  | 3. Put a layer of apples in a buttered ovenproof dish, then sprinkle with crumb mixture and add some melted butter. 
 
 |  | 4. Repeat, finishing with crumbs, and pour the brandy or other liquid over the top. 
 
 |  | 5. Bake in a moderately hot oven (400°F) for 25 - 30 minutes, or until the apples are cooked. 
 
 |  | 6. Cool, turn out and serve cold with vanilla sauce or whipped cream. 
 
 |  | 7. The top may be decorated with icing sugar sieved through a decorative paper doyley.
