Melon With Ouzo
(Peponime Ouzo)
What You Need:
  • Large cantaloupe or 2 small ones, about 3 pounds
  • ˝ cup sugar
  • ˝ cup ouzo (see Glossary)
  • Peel of 1 lime (optional)
  • How To Cook:
    1. Cut cantaloupe in half; remove seeds and filaments. Either remove pulp with a melon ball cutter or peel halves and slice.

    2. Put melon in a glass bowl. Combine sugar and ouzo in a pitcher and pour over melon.

    3. Let stand for at least 3 hours, turning fruit occasionally. Grate lime peel over fruit, if desired.

    To Serve: 6 to 8 servings
