Nassau Chop Suey
What You Need:
  • 1 pound beef and/or pork
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 1 cup onion, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms, undrained
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 can bean sprouts, drained
  • 4 cups cooked rice

  • How To Cook:
    1. Cut beef and/or pork into ½ inch pieces.

    2. Slowly brown the meat in hot shortening; add water, salt and pepper.

    3. Cover with tight fitting cover; cook 10 minutes.

    4. Add celery and onion, cook 2 minutes.

    5. Add mushrooms with liquid.

    6. Mix together soy sauce and slowly stir into until mixture.

    7. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Add bean sprouts. Serve over hot rice.

    To Serve: 3 - 4
