Bacon And Apple
(Apfelschnitte)
What You Need:
  • ¾ pound dried apples
  • 1¼ pound lean bacon
  • 1½ oz fresh butter
  • 1½ pound diced potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ pound smoked sausages

  • How To Cook:
    1. Soak the apples in cold water for 6 - 8 hours beforehand to let them swell.

    2. Melt the butter and sugar in a saucepan, add the soaked apples and the bacon and moisten with a little water, then cook for about 1 hour.

    3. Mix in the diced potatoes and the sausages and cook for another 25 minutes; add salt if necessary.

    4. Cut up the bacon and dish it up on top of the apples.

    To Serve: 2
