Hot Frankfurter - Macaroni Salad
What You Need:
  • 4 thin slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium-sized onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 medium-sized green pepper, cleaned and chopped
  • About 3 tablespoons salad oil
  • 1 pound frankfurters cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 can (1 pound) sauerkraut, drained
  • 3 cups cold, cooked macaroni
  • ¼ cup cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons minced dill pickle
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt, pepper to taste

  • How To Cook:
    1. Fry bacon in a large skillet until crisp and fat is rendered.

    2. Remove bacon and drain.

    3. Add onion and green pepper to bacon fat; saute until tender.

    4. Add 1 tablespoon oil and frankfurters; fry 5 minutes, turning once or twice.

    5. Add sauerkraut and cooked macaroni; saute until heated, 1 or 2 minutes.

    6. Add remaining oil, as much as desired, and remaining ingredients.

    7. Leave on the stove long enough to blend flavors, about 5 minutes.

    8. Remove from heat and serve hot.
