Poppy Seed And Honey Filling
(Hamantashen Fillings)
What You Need:
  • 2 cups poppy seed
  • 1 cup water or milk
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs

  • How To Cook:
    1. Combine poppy seed (large seeds should be scalded, drained and pounded) liquid, honey, sugar and salt in a saucepan.

    2. Cook over moderate heat till thick, stirring to prevent scorching.

    3. Let it cool before adding eggs, then beat thoroughly.

    4. If the addition of eggs makes the filling too thin, return to heat and stir for 1-2 minutes.

    To Make: enough filling for 24 small or 12 or 14 large hamantashen
