Tzimmes Of Dried Fruits
What You Need:
  • ˝ pound each prunes, dried apricots, peaches, pears, seeded raisins
  • 1 cup long grain rice (brown rice may be used)
  • ˝ cup honey
  • ˝ teaspoon salt
  • ˝ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 quart boiling water

  • How To Cook:
    1. Rinse dried fruits and drain well.

    2. Mix with rice and add the other ingredients in the order listed.

    3. Bring to the boil and then simmer (over an asbestos mat) for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender and the liquid in the pan absorbed.

    4. Shake occasionally to prevent sticking, or add a little boiling water if necessary.

    5. Serve hot or cold.
